it seems to me that i agree with you about this strange but great land of ours. im not a grumpy old maid yet! and i hope i never will be. but i am annoyed by the contempt for politeness some people have - is this a new thing or have the brits always been like this? the americans seem to keep their rudeness within and silently abuse one another on the street - well thats not really accurate - but i dont know - sometimes i think the brits need to re-educate themselves if only in some small ways....well what really annoys me is the fact that as a hardworking british ethnic minority couple - my husband and i face racial abuse from a neighbour (i assume anglo-saxon)who lives in a council house (newly built - 5 bedrooms) on benefits - he does not look at all disabled in any way - this guy tells other neighbours that people with brown skin colour are sucking up benefits! he knows we work long hours, he knows it but still persists! i know he is an idiot - but his campaign of intimidation and lies just hurts and angers a woman whose parents slaved for this country without ever denounsing it - and all of us my siblings included WORK and pay taxes and so on with no help - why should a white loser man have the right to sponge off the state for himself and his numerous offspring just because his grandfather is buried in British soil - i am actually quoting him on this point. i'm sorry i'm moaning at you - you dont deserve this moaning - i hope things work out for you - hardworking people deserve respect.

You make a very valid point Sir.
There’s a sort of impertinence among imbecilic service providers who suggest we should be grateful to receive any service at all, no matter how poor or belated.
What’s more, the workforce is dumbing down! People are incompetent.Now, how hard is it to bring me my tuna steak without getting my order wrong 3 TIMES! And the answer to that is: impossible.
This sort of ineptitude to SERVE is absolutely unacceptable, we shouldn’t have to put up with it, but people don’t want to make a fuss and so it carries on. Sad but true.

I'm on board all the way.
